Village Square Glen Cove NY 11542
The 2nd Annual Gold Coast Concours/Bimmerstock event, presented by Martino Auto Concepts/MAC Auto Couture of Glen Cove, NY, was in full throttle on Sunday, September 12, 2010, as thousands of spectators lined the streets to ogle the eye candy and listen to the roar of these powerful engines. The event raised more than $18,500 for the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI).
The City of Glen Cove's downtown business district was closed for the day, as hundreds of exotic cars and BMWs were showcased. Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Mercedes and a $2-million world champion Lola, among others, were enough to excite everyone from enthusiasts to fledgling fans.
"This event was an example of how one idea can provide a wonderful opportunity for our City, an enjoyable afternoon for all car enthusiasts and raise funds for a cause to find a cure for diabetes - a condition that affects so many people that we care about. I would like to thank Mayor Ralph Suozzi, the City Council, Joe and Barbara LaPadula and Derek Pasch for making this day possible," said Delia DeRiggi – Whitton, Glen Cove City councilwoman and DRI Foundation board member.
“It’s a great day for the community of Glen Cove, a great day for car buffs and a great day for the Diabetes Research Institute. I acquired the Penske Lola t70mk 3b race car in 1969 and raced many times. It’s been a remarkable experience to bring Lola onto the streets of Glen Cove and to support a cause that is so important to me and my family,” said Bruce Waller of Brookeville, owner of the prized Lola and a DRI Foundation board member...
